Hello!
Christine Tokunaga started her work at PLNU School of Education as a University Supervisor for the Teaching Credentialing and MAT program in the Fall of 2016. She has worked with and supported Teacher Candidates with their Cooperating teachers in the classroom during their final phase of their credential programs. She went on to gain additional higher ed experience by teaching graduate and seminar courses for the teaching program in Fall 2018. With her experience in Elementary education, Christine has been able to share her passion and dedication with her students and community.
Prior to her work in higher education, Christine has spent over 20 years in the elementary education field as an elementary school teacher, English Learner Resource teacher, and Literacy Support Resource Teacher. She has worked in San Diego, Silicon Valley, and in London, England. While serving in public schools, Christine has also been actively supporting the community by volunteering with Words Alive, a nonprofit organization that brings literacy education to families in San Diego. Much of her time teaching and volunteering has been working with students in underrepresented communities. It has been her experience working with these communities that led her work and passion into higher education to equip and empower our future teachers to transform education.
